  1. Ensuring safety is a responsibility in all industries

We can’t say enough about safety. From employers to employees, safety is an issue that must always be a part of every project, every day. We all know that accidents can accidentally happen but they will happen less often if the proper equipment is used and proper safety procedures are followed.Safety-3.2017-300x232According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, fatal work injuries increased from 4,821 in 2014 to 4,836 in 2015. This total was the highest since 5,214 fatal injuries were reported in 2008. The construction industry saw a 2% rise in 2015, again the highest since 2008. Construction occupations recording their highest numbers of fatalities in years include laborers, carpenters, electricians, and plumbers, pipefitters, and steamfitters.

As a full-service industrial supplier, our expertise spans all industries and equipment. We know about safety and best practices that should be instituted for each situation to keep people and places safe. Caylor carefully minds ANSI guidelines, OSHA laws and regulations, and NFPA codes and standards.

Because we understand the requirements of safety, our products are compliant with the most up-to-date industrial safety standards. Our high-quality components support all levels of safety—from the smallest safety issue (such as a leaky valve) to the largest (steam fittings). We serve the industrial marketplace and support electricians, plumbers, carpenters, roving truck-based maintenance technicians, HVAC specialists, general maintenance personnel, industrial equipment engineers, and construction professionals.

Following proper safety standards and using safety compliant products are a surefire way to complete a project without incident. Trusting your supplies from a qualified supplier like Caylor ensures you are starting in the safest way possible.

The experts here at Caylor are ready to help you make safe and smart decisions, no matter the type of project.

  2. The importance of mechanical & industrial contractors in the us economy 2017

Construction will always be the backbone of the US economy. Over 2016 investments in both residential and industrial construction projects have increased. As reshoring strikes a chord with manufacturers and the country is slowly released from the grip of the recession, both mechanical and industrial contractors will play a more important role than ever before in helping the market grow.

Who are Mechanical Contractors & How Do They Contribute to the Economy?

    Caylor-Image

According to the Mechanical Contractors Association of America, mechanical contracting companies are responsible for installation, alteration, and repair of plumbing, piping, heating, cooling and refrigeration systems in buildings and structures. A mechanical contractor is licensed and skilled to handle anything involving mechanical parts.

The fact that we owe modern amenities like regulated temperatures, clean breathing air, sanitary surroundings and effective drainage to mechanical contractors is something that most people are aware of. But these workers also save millions of dollars every year by performing their jobs well and ensuring that the units which define our modern life and productivity function optimally.

HVAC systems that aren’t installed or repaired properly lose their efficiency. They consume more energy to maintain a given output and increasing the demand for electricity. It may seem like a trivial issue when considered in the context of one residence. But imagine the same happening for thousands of homes and large industrial sites and the implications become clear.

The US loses billions of gallons of potable water every year because of poor sanitary systems and infrastructure. Money is squandered when defective drains allow moisture to seep through and adversely impact roofs and foundations of structures making collapses more likely.

A lot rests on the shoulders of mechanical contractors who apply their knowledge to enhance the longevity and proper utilization of valuable economic assets.

Who are Industrial Contractors & Where do They Figure?

Industrial contractors oversee key tasks within the industrial sector. They manage workers, guide mechanical contractors, supervise construction and demolition and budget projects.

They are not only responsible for keeping construction assignments on time and within estimated costs, they also determine the success of mechanical contractors to some extent. Since the selection, priming and support of these individuals are the domain of industrial contractors, their preparation and know-how is always reflected in the performance of their mechanical counterparts.

2017 will continue to see a spike in residential and commercial construction endeavors. The new government is aiming for a bullish market and the pay-offs will trickle down to positively influence purchase power. Both mechanical and industrial contractors will need to leverage their skills to support and perpetuate the business boom.

Caylor Industrial Sales Inc. is a full-service industrial supplier of valves, fittings, and pipe & tube hangers. We work in close collaboration with contractors throughout the industry.

We aren’t satisfied unless our work is precise with a fast turnaround to our clients every single time.

In 2017, apart from continuing to forge stronger ties with buyers through steady supply of the stock parts on its roster, Caylor will also strategically focus on the assets of custom machining and distribution of carbon steel, stainless steel, steel, brass & bronze.

Metal machining to create durable, corrosion resistant tailored parts is a service that is set to be in high demand through 2018. Breakthroughs in aviation and telemedicine – including the ability to manipulate robotic arms to carry our remotely guided surgeries are radically revising what companies want and demand of machined parts. 4. Carpet recycling: the ecologically sound choice

For over 35 years, Caylor has been supplying hardware and industrial products to a wide range of businesses and manufacturing operations. One of the industries that we have served continuously is the carpet industry, maintaining strong roots in our direct community. In our September blog, we gave you the history of our hometown, Dalton, GA, the carpet and flooring capital of the world. Now we’re here to tell you more about the carpet industry itself and how it is working to protect the environment.

Carpeting accounts for 51% of the total U.S. flooring market. Georgia is home to nine of the top 20 carpet manufacturers with 45% of the world’s carpets and rugs coming out of our home state. And, within a 65-mile radius of Dalton, local mills produce more than 85% of the U.S. carpet and rug market with an estimated $8 billion in business activity. The carpet industry is huge and the process, from original manufacturing to disposal of used materials, is extremely important to us.

What’s the Best way to Dispose of Used Carpeting?

When it’s time to remove and replace carpeting, common procedure is to have municipal garbage carters take it away. In the past, their only option was to bring used carpets and rugs to landfills. With the start of the Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE) in 2002, carpet recycling and reclamation is not only possible but on the rise.

CARE members work to develop and advance market-based solutions for post-consumer carpet diversion and recycling. In 2014, 185 million pounds of used carpeting were recycled, and 494 million pounds were diverted from landfills. Most carpet manufacturers are members of CARE and offer resources to aid the recycling effort. Recycling is available throughout the country and can be accessed locally at the Georgia Carpet Recovery facility in East Point.

Sustainable business practices for the protection of the environment benefit us all. At Caylor our mission is to be economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable. We continue to deliver the highest quality industrial supplies that keep the mills producing top-quality carpets and rugs to meet consumer demand. With recycling now a viable option for carpeting at the end of its lifespan, we support the industry from start to finish!

  5. Water under the bridge: a final look at 2016

Here we are at the close of another year. 2016 has been great for us – dedicated to serving our customers with the industrial supplies they need to be successful. So, in honor of tradition, let’s take a look back at the highlights of what happened over the past 12 months.

We started the new year emphasizing the benefits of our custom machining capabilities. Loyal customers relayed horror stories of working with untrustworthy suppliers who claimed modified stock parts were custom items. At Caylor, when we say custom, we mean custom!  We started 2016 with our consumers’ satisfaction in mind, and we tend to keep it that way.

In April we focused on Earth Day and the importance of proper wastewater treatment. Our products excel as a necessity in this type of industry. The tough conditions of treatment plants are no match for the reliable and durable parts we produce and deliver.

We were very proud to introduce state-of-the-art products to our ever expanding warehouse inventory. The Caribou Coolers and Tumblers and biodegradable gloves improve the comfort levels of contractors and workers. These products, new to Caylor, are ideal for all industries and let us deliver something to make your day a little more pleasant.

As the pages of our book turn towards the end of the year, we wanted you to get to know both our company and our hometown a little bit more. Our September, October, and November blogs examine Dalton, Georgiathe recycling industry,  and how we contribute to the growth of U.S. manufacturing. These blogs sum up our year and our intentions extremely well – we are dedicated to both local and national manufacturing operations, delivering the materials you need to be successful.

As 2016 finishes up, we’d like to wish all of our customers and those in the industries we serve very Happy Holidays and a Healthy New Year!

  6. As a preferred industrial supplier caylor supports national manufacturing day this october

NMD-LOGO-OCT.-2016Caylor has been redefining industrial supplies for almost 36 years now! A family owned operation that has ties with industries like maintenance, engineering, construction and general contracting Caylor stands for precision, finesses, unparalleled skills, attention to detail, just in time deliveries and the ability to machine parts to custom specifications in a fast and cost effective way.

How Has Caylor Contributed to the Growth of US Manufacturing?

Caylor is a rare business that has mastered the use of forms and dies to create standardized parts serving bulk orders and also boasts top of the line capabilities in the field of tailoring products to serve industry specific needs. Caylor brings the best of two advantages together.

On one hand we are a market-recognized distributor of high quality alloys like carbon steel, stainless steel, steel, brass and bronze. On the other we adeptly leverage our expertise in techniques like milling, grinding, machining, welding, punching, shearing and drilling to create custom shapes covering angles, channels, bars, tubing, pipes, valves, fittings, flanges, zees, plates, sheets, coils & beams.

The businesses that work with us have the privilege of partnering with a provider who has complete control over all aspects of the items produced. Problems like raw material shortage, chipping of machined parts and deviance from specs do not plague consignments because we also act as a responsible distributor.

Caylor Industrial Sales has equipped clients with the ability to be agile in an ever changing market. We operate with the confidence of knowing that critical parts and assembly items will always reach them on time and in budget. This is an assurance worth a million dollars especially for businesses with interdependent production lines.

Caylor’s Sentiments about National Manufacturing Day:

Officially recognized as the most concerted manufacturing and production centric event on a national scale, Manufacturing Day generally falls on the first Friday of every October. This year it happens to be the 7th.

National Manufacturing Day relies on the involvement and participation of producers from all over the country who work with schools and colleges to throw open their inner working, their factory floors and the career opportunities available with them to young aspirants in an attempt to present the real picture to these workers of tomorrow.

The US is facing a Skill Gap that is widening by the year. Unless students realize that manufacturing as an alternative is a better paying, more secure and technically challenging prospect than most other careers, the Golden Era of manufacturing will not dawn in earnest.

Caylor supports this movement wholeheartedly. We have always upheld transparency in operations as a fundamental value and cherish our legacy of being a vital cog in manufacturing’s machine.

  7. Do you know the carpet and flooring capital of the world?

Caylor-Dalton-GA-Small-Logo-Image-Sept.-2016There aren’t many places across the country that can boast about a strong community, a strong economy, and a strong sense of pride in their immediate area. Or, if they can, we haven’t heard from them! But in Dalton, we sure can! Our roots are here and as a company that supports the area’s industries we are proud to be a member of this thriving community. We’d like to tell you about our hometown…

Dalton is located in Northern Georgia in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The town was founded by Edward Dalton White in 1847 and went on to become a major city after completion of the railroad.

In the early 20th Century Catherine Evans Whitener began making bedspreads using an American tufting technique called candlewick embroidery. The bedspreads became very popular, and she began teaching others this hand-tufting technique.

The Whitener family formed the Evans Manufacturing Company in 1917, and this began the tradition of textile manufacturing in the area. The techniques used to manufacture the tufted bedspreads were eventually adopted as a means to make carpets and rugs.

By the 1950’s the carpet and flooring industry was thriving. Up-to-date machinery, technologies, and dyeing methods have created the modern industry we know today which produces a wide variety of carpeting and rugs, vinyl flooring, ceramics, tile, and laminates. This strong industry is still supporting many in the community. Companies such as Mohawk Industries are planning millions in capital investments as the company continues to grow. Sales this year are up as construction and the economy are rebounding.

Increased sales are due in part to the positive economy. Home prices and construction are on the rise as homeowners are tackling renovation projects that were on hold during the recession. Increased spending and demand for new products are having a positive impact on all industries.

As the carpet and flooring manufacturers of Dalton continue to meet the needs of the consumer base around the world, we are quietly supporting them. Caylor’s role in the community, as the leading industrial supplier, is simple—provide the highest quality products to keep manufacturing running at its highest levels. Our inventories are always ready to deliver valves, fittings, pipe and tube hangers, and custom machined parts for applications in maintenance, engineering, and construction projects.

  9. Earth day thought: wastewater treatment

Every April for the last 40+ years Earth Day has been a reminder of Earth-Day-Image-5-300x195the importance of environmental conservation to protect the Earth for future generations. This movement brought awareness to environmental issues and initiated public policies to protect the water and air that we all need to survive. The Clean Water Act, a direct descendent of the Earth Day movement, was the foundation for establishing wastewater discharge control to “restore and maintain chemical, physical, and biological integrity of the nation’s waters.”

Today, centralized wastewater collection and treatment systems serve over 75% of the U.S. population, with 16,000+ municipal wastewater treatment facilities in operation. These facilities collect wastewater from homes, businesses, and industries and process it to remove pollutants such as pathogens, organic matter, ammonia, chemicals, and nutrients. If these pollutants enter back into the ecological systems, they are a serious risk to the health and well-being of waterways, animals, and humans.

Within a treatment facility, wastewater undergoes a series of physical, biological, and chemical processes. At each step pumps and valves move wastewater through the system so that the resulting effluent is clarified and safe for the environment. Unfortunately, many treatment facilities are old and in need of repair. Because they deal with harsh materials, improvements require the highest-quality components to maintain the highest level of operation.

The hardware and industrial supplies needed to keep these plants running should be from top-quality suppliers like Caylor Industrial. Our staff of experienced professionals deliver solutions that improve productivity and reliability in all types of wastewater treatment facilities. As treatment facilities age, choosing the right valves and fittings from a trusted source contributes to the effectiveness of pump systems to maintain high levels of environmental protection.

Caylor Industrial Sales is the company that has all the necessary products to serve the wastewater treatment industry that keeps the water clean and flowing. For more information on our products and services contact us today.

  10. Industry outlooks for 2016

The past few years have seen positive growth in many industries and 2016 is expected to continue this path as industries such as construction and manufacturing continue to rebound after the recession.

Both manufacturing and construction are expected to see growth in 2016. The MAPI Foundation’s report on manufacturing expects the industry to see 3.9% growth in 2016 on the combination of job growth and higher demand for replacement equipment. New construction starts are predicted to rise 6% in 2016 as the industry continues to expand.

The oil and gas industry has seen a drop in prices, but not yet a significant drop in production. Although the analysts are still out on how low prices can go, production is not falling and they expect to see prices rebound later in the year.

No matter what the experts say, industry will always need high quality parts and services to keep performing at optimal levels. At Caylor, we are the suppliers who provide the best there is in valvesfittings, and pipe and tube hanging components that serve in manufacturing, construction, and domestic energy production applications.

For example, we supply all the materials for construction of residential and commercial building projects including manufacturing facilities, office buildings, and homes and apartments. In manufacturing, piping and process systems rely on our products to ensure production continues to run smoothly and efficiently. With our custom machining services we also provide machined parts, valve brackets, turned parts, milled parts, grinded parts, pins, rods, and welded parts to meet precise specifications. Any application involving steam or water can benefit from the products we provide.

We are excited and looking forward to another year of serving the industrial market with the top-quality products we stand behind. For more information on Caylor’s products and services, and to see how we can help deliver quality to your application, contact us today!
